  1. This is the last debate for the run-off race. Let's hope the candidates use the time we are giving them to have a productive discussion about contituent issues and concerns we are facing as a Ward. I really DON'T want to hear about their campaign squabbles, finger pointing and accusations.

From what I have seen of this race, far more attention needs to be paid to the issues and less to the candidate constantly crying foul.

  2. No mudslinging please. Let's keep things professional.

  3. anyone who does not stick to the issues will be lower in the eyes of the audience.

  4. Caterpiller talking about leaving Illinois because of taxes. Same group (SEIU) that bought tax increase vote is supporting O'Connor to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars. Would like to see that discussed. SEIU is buying votes again and O'Connor is selling. Integrity and honesty are important.

  5. Character is an issue. Honesty and integrity most important indicator of how one will vote and make decisions. Similarly, why is so much
out side money going to one candidate? Smart voters know what will inform the winners future actions. Follow the money!

  6. So Mary O'Connor is a no show. She was "sick". But she felt well enough to post on her face book 57 minutes ago. hmmmmmm...... Lost my vote.

  7. Well, O'Connor wasn't even in attendance.

  8. Attendance looks low. I think many people early voted. I know I did!

  9. Attendance wasn't that bad...there just is not much to talk about. Mary O'Connor was sick and not in attendance so they had her campaign manager giving answers. Gavin did alright, in my opinion.
Both 45th candidates were pretty good.

  10. Mary's stand in previously worked for Gonzalez, who I voted for in Feb. It's kind of cool that he decided to volunteer for Mary. Nice to see former opponents work together rather than just disappear.

  11. Nice job Nadig papers: Good job exposing the Gavin/Doherty campaign for their false accusations and other mudslinging activies. Doherty admitted he was the culprit behind distributing the flyer containing the accusations throughout the ward. Also, the article pointed out that where you receive mail and garage your car are other factors related to residency. And also pointed out O'Connor has always lived in the Ward.
See today's issue of the Nadig News for all the details.

  12. To 1:01 ,1:16 AND 1:26: "Two elements are necassary to create a "residence" for voter registration purposes: physical presence and an intent to remain there as a permanent residence" Delk v Board of Elections Commissioners 112 ILLApp.3d 735. Question is not whether O'Connor is currently registered on Palatine. Question is why did she commit voter fraud from 2004 to 2007. Using her reasoning the 40,000 plus employees who work at the air port could have a p.o box set up at the air port post office and vote in 41. O'Connor by her own admission never lived at 7280 west Devon. A 12 year old knows you can't vote where you don't live.

  13. O'Connor was not ill at all. She again lies to voters. She posted to her facebook and has an event tonight. Pattern of lying continues.

  14. to 1:01 It was the Northwest Side Press that published the front page article "Flier Spurs Controversy at 41st Ward Race Forum", by Brian Nadig.

In the article it states, "He (Doherty) and campaign workers chose to distribute the flyer...." and then says, "Doherty said he does not know who printed the flyer".

  15. Readers,

Find a copy of today's "Northwest Side Press" and read the article for yourselves.

  16. I read the article this morning, and it does debunk Gavin allegations against O'Connor. We need to move on. This day next week, we will have a new alderman.

  17. I thought it was kind of insulting that O'Connor did not show. She called in sick (said she was bed ridden) and had a replacement all ready to go. She made earlier engagement though and has a tea tonight. Gavin had the gallary clapping and whooping it up when she answered the question why she wanted to be Alderman. Quite impressive if you ask me.

  18. Tired of Doherty, and Gavin hasn't said she would do much different - no insight into the problems with the office. No new ideas, no creativity and certainly no grasp of major issues facing the city - budget, TIF reform, etc...

  19. Neither candidate has given substantive answers regarding the budget, pensions, TIF reform, etc. Both are severely lacking in knowledge of these real citywide issues. This entire race has been mudslinging back and forth to distract from both candidates' lack of real knowledge, unfortunately.

  20. I read the Press article and was disappointed that this is the stuff reporters have to inverstigate here - campaign nonsense. Very unprofessional campaign run by Gavin. I doubt anyone at city hall will treat her any differently than a secretary if she was elected. She will not make a smooth transition - no professional grooming, education or experience.

  21. Russ Stewart from the Northwest Side Press is predicting an O'Connor win.

  22. Stewart predicted Doherty would win too. He's eccentric, some times goofy and some times informative. Which ever side your on, I would not put to much stock in him.
