  1. I want to clarify the timing of the Onahan School's "Question and Answer Session" for the 41st Ward Aldermanic Candidates on Thursday, March 10, 2011; based on an email received this afternoon from the Onahan School.
From 6:30pm to 7:00pm, there will be a short Local School Council (LSC) meeting. At 7:00pm, there will be the Question/Answer session.

  2. I checked out the sun times and the guy is right about the robo lies. Some other interesting reading. O'Connor lists among her biggest donors James Deleo and Mulroe. Would that be the same notorious James Deleo who was implicated in Operation Grey Lord and caught with a stash of cash in his freezer. (sounds like a movie but true) He ended up cutting a deal and pleaing guilty to misdemeanor tax charges. Also the same Deleo who stepped aside so O'Connor and the rest of the powers that be could appoint Mulroe to the State Senate. When some one has to lie about their opponent, she is hiding some thing. Is it becoming clear yet who is buying up 41? Stay tuned for the true story about O'Connor and her co-horts. You lie about the wrong person O'Connor. The snotty little out siders running your campaign are hurting you. Thanks to my friend for turning me onto this blog. This is going to be fun.

  3. Mulroe was fairly appointed by the Dems, that is how the process is suppose to work. McAuliffe, on the other hand was given the position to continue the grand tradition of politican nepotism.

  4. Just had coffee with fellow retired police officers. Leave McAuliffe out of it. Father and son are best friends the police ever had. Is 8:03 a.m the kid from the suburbs on O'Connor's campaign pay roll? Way to keep the jobs in 41. Kids around here must not be smart enough for O'Connor. They are probably making sandwiches for the braniac from the burbs.

  5. Old man McAuliffe was no friend to the union working man, and that includes the coppers.

  6. It makes no difference. The system is not legit. Let it crumble. Then we will rebuild.

  7. I agree in with "it makes no difference". I have no confidence in either of these candidates and what is even more depressing is that we have to wait for another four years to even get a glimpse at someone genuine.

  8. All of this negative campaigning and back-biting is just because O'Connor is running scared. Gavin is going to win this easily!

  9. I received a letter today, in the mail, from Richard Gonzalez supporting Mary O'Connor. Well written letter. I'm sorry he didn't make it to the run-off, but I'm glad he's on board with Mary.

  10. Working night shift and word at the Police station is that O'Connor made deal with Gonzalez for future endorsement for run for State Representative. Maybe some one should ask her about that tonight. I wonder if she will turn red when she lies about it. God Bless you Jim Mullen but those that went with you are going with the FOP on this one. Though I do hope it is true she is going to sell your apple sauce. It is good stuff.

  11. I'm CFD and I'm voting for O'Connor. I am tired of the Gavin/Doherty schtich up here. Time for a CHANGE!!!

  12. State Rep is a part-time crappy job...I doubt Gonzalez wants that. McAuliffe has had it so long because no one else wants it.

  13. Union Blogger here: After yesterday's nightmare decision in Wisconsin, union workers in Illinois will make sure Republicans are not elected at ANY LEVEL of govt. And the locals who have endorsed Gavin - the word is out and the workers are ANGRY. We are the PAC paying members and you had a lot of nerve supporting Gavin - she doesn't have a chance anyway. HOW STUPID

    ReplyDelete
  14. If anyone thinks any republican is anything except about themselves they are nuts. Look at Wisconsin and watch that train coming right here. Republicans don't give a rats ass about police officers, tradesmen or municipal workers. Why do you think the largest unions are with O'connor? And why do you think real cops like Mullens and Gonzalez are avoiding Gavin like the plague?

  15. The Doherty/Silvestri/McAulliffe organization is over, and they know it. If Gavin is their last best hope, I'm sure they are sprucing up their resumes as we speak. They can join Todd in the unemployment line.

  16. All I ask is that all these people bashing Gavin for being associated with the Republican party (in a non-partisan race)...PLEASE attend the forum and future debates. There is NOTHING anti-union or anti-working man in her platform. I fear the Democratic machine (the one that will control O'Connor like a puppet) has began posting on this forums.
From the forums I attended earlier for the Feb 22 election, I always thought Gavin did a MUCH better job than O'Connor. Gavin knows the issues and makes that very clear with her answers while O'Connor gives broad cookie-cutter answers. Gavin was usually 2nd most impressive behind Murphey and tied with Gonzalez.

  17. Hey Anonymous 7:49, regardless of how you feel about O'Connor, it's easily searchable in the public record that Senator DeLeo has give Alderman Brian Doherty thousands of dollars over the years.

If you check Doherty's D2's on the Illinois Elections website, you might notice that DeLeo gave Doherty $3,675 between 1/16/2007 and 2/23/2007. That's way more money than DeLeo gave O'Connor.

Additionally, Doherty took $250 from 36th Ward Committeeman (and former alderman) Bill Banks's brother Samuel, a real estate attorney.

Doherty also took $500 from 45th Ward alderman Pat Levar.

Does that make Doherty backed by the machine, too? Please get your story straight...

  18. This is Maureen O'Brien, campaign manager for Maurita Gavin. I just wanted to confirm that we are keeping our campaign focused on the issues and on the qualifications of the candidates. We encourage everyone to do the same.

  19. To 9:45 a.m O'Connor campaign worker: it is 2011 and O'Connor is too much like Doherty (wtihout the loyalty) and Mulroe. He actually helped O'Connor with her committeman race and Mulroe with his Judge race. Your argument boils down to O'Connor is as bad as the opponent's boss. I agree. Please keep advocating on behalf of O'Connor. Got burned with Mulroe and the income tax increase and it won't happen again. Gavin has more decency and character in her little finger than all three of those combined. I hope you machine guys on loan to O'Connor have more to your campaign than she worked for the Alderman. By the way are you guys getting lost up here without the numbers on the street signs?

  20. Gavin camp people all over this blog...how about we hear from some of the voters for a change?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Let's be serious 2:21, there are both Gavin camp and O'Connor camp people all over this blog. I look forward to hearing from both candidates at Onahan.

  22. Hey 9:50 am Thanks for turning me on to the disclosure thing. What is with the $5,500 from the 40th ward alderman (all papers say will be Rambo's floor leader) to O'Connor? Look at that Police and Fire!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I went to a forum where Gavin told the audience that if we wanted to know anything about her we should look up the chicago tribune and chicago sun-times websites. It never occured to her to tell people she would talk to them and explain her positions. No wonder everyone is confused and the robo calls are what is really clarifying positions for everyone

  25. Illinois State Board of elections Financial disclosures. O'Connor has more than one committee and if I remember right it is under her committee woman account or 41st ward democratic committeman account. But it is there. Talk of Alderman of 40 becoming floor leader for Emanuel has been all over the papers.

    ReplyDelete
  26. To 4:00, I think she probably said that because of time limits at the forums. She was always pushing up against the set limits. The limits will be much more generous in the upcoming debates since it is only two people talking which means we should hear much more from both candidates.
And the robo calls aren't "clarifying positions"...they are blatantly making positions up.

  27. to 41st blog: Friends of Mary O'Connor D2 semi anual report 1/1/09 to 6/30/09
Citizens for Patrick O'Connor gave $5,500 on 2/26/09.

  28. To 4:55 PM Would that be the same Alderman that all the papers are saying is going to be the new Mayors floor leader. $5,500 and I know they are not related. To 9:50 A.M: Thanks for turning a few of us retired concerned 41st ward citizens onto this financial disclosure thing. Fascinating reading and are you sure you want to get into the 36th ward (Banks) and 38. Keep up the good work for O'Connor. You're probably the kid on the O'Connor pay roll from the burbs.

  29. From a 2009 ward committeman election over two years ago...not this election

    ReplyDelete
  30. In response to 4:55 PM I hear O'Connor has a new campaign slogan: VOTE FOR MARY AND GET TWO O'CONNOR'S FOR THE PRICE OF ONE. No wonder she needs robo lies.

  31. Lets hear from a few residents of the 41st ward

  32. Can we leave the school yard pushing and shoving back in the playground? There are real issues facing our ward and to get real answers I advise every voter to attend the upcoming forums and judge for themselves. O'Connor/Gavin supporters alike are clouding the waters with personal attacks. Stop the nonsense, grow up and attend the forums.

  33. Hey Anonymous 7:49am/2:01pm, dude who is obviously a fervent Gavin supporter,

    1. This is 9:50am. I am not from O'Connor's campaign. I voted for Thomas Patrick Murphy because of the Trib endorsement, etc. There are plenty of people in the 41st Ward who are independent voters.

    2. I was simply questioning the argument that if one should not vote for O'Connor because she has taken money from the machine (Senator DeLeo), then why should one vote for Gavin - someone who's worked for a machine-backed alderman (Doherty received thousands from Senator DeLeo) for 15 years and who is being backed and supported financially by that machine-backed alderman. I think that's a very fair question and it was not necessarily an attack on Doherty, DeLeo, O'Connor, or Gavin. I was just pointing out easily verifiable facts and questioning the argument.

    3. It doesn't take a campaign worker to look where people get their money from. It's super easy and I would encourage everyone who reads this blog to do so. Go to the state elections site and type in the name of the politician you are looking for and check their D2's.

    Happy voting everyone!

  34. Well now that the election is over, and people of the 41st Ward have elected their new alderman, let's hope that everyone can work together for the benefit of our wonderful community. Congratulations to Ald. elect O'Connor.
