  1. It was more of the same back and forth between the two candidates. One thing that is starting to rear its ugly head is partisan politics as Gavin accuses O'Connor of being controlled by Democratic party bosses and O'Connor accuses Gavin of being a staunch Republican.
Hopefully some tough questions are asked at the debates tomorrow at Wildwood and Wednesday at Norwood Crossing.

  3. DeLeo and Banks were oh so friendly with Doherty. Mary O and Doherty/Gavin have known each other for years - this race is to incestious. To many intertwined political relationships.

I was hoping two of the nobodies would have run off to avoid making this all about politics instead of about the Ward and the people in the Ward.

  4. I agree. This race is all about candidate political relationships/connections because neither one of them are strong on the issues. Very weak candidates.

  5. I've been telling everyone, I live in the 45th Ward to avoid the embarassment.

  6. Answers were superficial and lacked substance - not impressed. Move along, folks. See you in four years.

  7. The responses about the how are they are going to pay for schools in response to overcrowding if there is no tax increase said NOTHING.

Neither one of them answered the question, they each spoke a general talking point about schools.

  10. Both of these candidates have heavy partisan baggage. If they were smart, they would have both agreed to avoid partisan talk.

  11. 8:20am: I agree. A good answer to that question might have been a committment to work on larger city budget reform and bringing the city's finances into check so there would be more money allocated to CPS, and NO NEED for a property tax increase.

Also, a moratorium on TIF and/or current TIF monies being placed into the general budget for the next year or two would ease some CPS burden.

But we got nothing, as usual from these two.
