Will Either Candidate in the 41st Ward Seek Assistance from Rahm?
The way I see it, one of the candidates better extend the olive branch or Rahm will allow the 41st ward to turn into swamp land and will will continue to get nothing for our tax dollars.
I agree. we have to start out on the right foot and figure out a way to work with Rahm.
A good question for these two candidates is to ask them how they plan on working with Rahm, what their strategy will be for working with him in the future etc. No dodging the Rahm bullet, these ladies will need to talk about their "Rahm plan".
Neither of these two candidates are going to seek assistance from Rahm because Rahm has plans for the 41st Ward regardless. He's going to follow through with Ohare expansion and the rest will come tumbling down. The best place to live in the city will be bucktown. I hear so many exciting renovations are being implemented. This " suburban type" neighborhood will soon be forgotten completely. If anyone noticed the 41st Ward wasn't even mentioned on the news not too long ago with Aldermanic run offs. Sign of the times.
Bucktown too has had its share of real estate problems. I agree you with Rahm having nothing to do with these two candiates. He will do whatever he wants in the 41st, and there will be no one to stop him.
Just because the run-off wasnt mentioned in the news doesn't mean our neighborhood is going downhill or anything. It just isn't a "sexy" race. Most of the races mentioned are incumbents being taken to run-offs. Our ward is still great and will continue to be great as long as we, its citizens, continue to fight for it and stay involved.
Bickerdike and public housing in Bucktown is the downfall. If we wanted to be a yuppie we would live in Lincoln Park, and if we wanted to be a hipster we would live in Bucktown. We want to raise families and grow old in a safe neighborhood. That's why we live here.
The reason we choose to raise families in the 41st Ward is because we are afraid of living in a fast pace area. I know of many upscale families that live in the downtown area that send their kids to the best schools in Chicago, and their reason for not moving into our neighborhood is because we are not as open minded as people that live in the inner city. To them we are nothing more than old and eccentric. Know wonder people don't like coming to this part of the city! How do you think Gavin or O'Connor can change that?
Rahm's support and/or money would be the "kiss of death" for either candidate in this ward. Thanks, but "hell no".
ReplyDeleteIf the Rahm team really wants O'Connor, they will send money to Gavin
ReplyDeleteRahm knows he has to do some damage control up here and even showed up at a few of the fire houses for unannounced coffee.
ReplyDeleteI think he will extend himself, but covertly.

Have any organizations stepped up to moderate an aldermanic debate yet?
ReplyDeleteThe debates are scheduled.
ReplyDeleteMarch 16th at Edgebrook Church.
March 22nd at Wildwood School.
March 23rd at Norwood Park Nursing Home.
I am sure an official announcement of these will be coming soon but these are definite.
