A blog for people who live in the 41st Ward, Chicago, Illinois. The 41st Ward includes Oriole Park, Norwood Park, Edison Park, Wildwood, Edgebrook, Big Oaks and O'Hare communities.
City, county and state workers beware of the republicans. Wisconsin is dealing with that nightmare. I wasn't happy with Quinn a few weeks ago, but he isn't looking to bad now.
Our country is ready to erupt thanks to the Republicans - cutting budgets on the backs of the working class after giving their corporate pals tax cuts.
Now we know what you are against -- Republicans, any reduction in the power of unions, and any budget reductions that affect the working class. Please tell us what you are for? Is there an example of a state (or city or country) that can make the math work using the current model? Will an increase in taxes on business and rich people solve the problems? I think it will be very interesting to watch what Walker and Quinn do going forward, and what the results will be.
I'm against crazy and lazy Republicans ... the others are ok.
I believe in this:
Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not first existed. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration.
The three major contenders all want to complete the O'Hare expansion by negotiating with the airlines. They sound like magicians. No way can we afford to move forward on that, especially if the airlines aren't in agreement.
Article 23.4 UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights "Everyone has the right to form and to join trade unions for the protection of his interests."... except in Wisconsin.
The O'Hare Expansion is a huge mess. How could anyone get the city into the project without a complete plan. No responsible CEO would approve a "pay as you go" project this big.
The three Chicago wards with the highest levels of early voting through last Sunday, meanwhile, are the 41nd (1,582), the 42nd (1,483), and the 19th (1,466).
Who are the aldermanic candidates supporting? I see Ateca and Lipinski signs with Chico's. I heard Merck say that he was voting for Walls at the PNA forum 2 weeks ago. Is this topic the third rail?
I am voting for Chico; I don't believe Rahm can be trusted; Berrios should be relieved of his duties and led directly to jail; Murphey is my guy; puppy dog mailer was a head scratcher . . .
I received a question from a reader about how many people look at this blog.

I like DeValle. Against privitization except for Midway deal to fund pensions. Seems even keeled on other issues.
ReplyDeleteTake a look at the mayoral candidate childhood pictures in the sun times. Too funny, esp. Rahm
ReplyDeleteI can honestly say I know no one who will say they are voting for Rahm. All smoke and mirrors.

ReplyDeleteGood thing Mulroe won, or we would be in Springfield protesting right now.

ReplyDeleteI voted for Chico and I am a CPS employee. I refuse to believe the Rahm media.
ReplyDeleteIt is one of the characteristics of a free and democratic nation that it have free and independent labor unions.- Franklin D. Roosevelt
ReplyDeleteState worker here- I voted for Mulroe. Mayor - Chico.

DeValle has been progressive for years. He would allow the city council to lead. Has been progressive for years.
ReplyDeleteChico is and was a Daley guy. SO is Rahm.
ReplyDeleteI read somewhere that Mulroe was introducing legislation to lower the cost of Corporate Logo License plates

ReplyDeleteWho are the aldermanic candidates wanting to be the next mayor?
ReplyDeleteRahm hasn't endorsed any city council candidates, yet. Would be the kiss of death around here.

ReplyDeleteWith an audience that large, your partisan candidates had best be less naughty.
ReplyDeleteDavid Hoffman would have made a good mayor.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw an alderman candidate mailer with a basket of puppy dogs on it and not much else, I just shook my head...
ReplyDeleteI saw that mailer too, and thought the candidate was running for dog catcher.
ReplyDeleteHaha..I liked that mailer.

ReplyDelete"The Puppy Dog" Candidate - that could stick
