Here Comes the Money

Check out Mary O'Connor's State Board of Elections Financial Disclosure Documents. Her D2s, A1s and other forms for the 2011 Aldermanic Election are filed under Office of Ward Committeeman, not Office of Alderman.

Money is gushing into the O'Connor campaign from SEIU PAC, the Democrats, Business...

The cash is starting to flow into the 41st Ward aldermanic race from special interests, the unions and the political party. Will money buy the aldermanic seat in the 41st Ward or will the voters send a different message?

Keep an eye on the money

  1. Someone please tell Mary what office she is running for.

  2. Lapinski received $5000 from the Fire Fighters Union. Seems appropriate, he is a fire fighter.

  3. How come the SEIU didn't support Lapinski? He is a union member. O'Connor isn't.

  4. The 2011 mayoral and aldermanic races are not about issues, but rather, money and power.

  5. Who's got the money coming in to aid them? Add them up. Decide.......... do we want our alderman to be owned lock, stock and barrel by the unions, regardless? I don't think so. Seek out a real independent and vote for him.

  6. 1 independant is spending $250,000.00 of his own money per the newspaper..Gonzalez (say what?)

1 independant is now owned by the firefighters union $5,000.00 large (so how's that reform gonna fly with that now owned lock stock and barrel)

1 independant still keeps asking for money on his website on the top line, but want's to change the status quo. News flash, that is the status quo, but this site won't address that. (Really Professional)

1 independant (obviously not O'Connor) received a large sum from SEIU. How's that gonna fly when reform needs to be performed by the alderman on the SEIU? Don't worry, per the newspaper he will get 1000 votes out of sympathy.

This baggage that almost all of the candidates carry is tremendous, but no change is going to occur. The machine mindset and focus on style rather than substance is sinking this ship.

Time to step up and vote for the hard right choice that thinks outside the box.

  7. The way I see it we have no choice but to vote for an independent. Voting for Gavin is a vote for the same, the status quo. Voting for O'Connor is a vote for a bought candidate who doesn't have the voter's interest forefront in decision making. The independents who have other jobs and businesses are out for me.

  8. The nice thing about receiving 20" of snow is all the O'connor signs are buried.

  9. Gavin signs buried too. Neighborhood lost the spammed, littered look.

  10. I dont think of it as a spammed, littered look. I look at it more as a neighborhood that is politically aware and invested in this race.

  12. No, I'm not talking about Brock Merck. Brock Merck is progressive (he's an environmentalist). I'm talking about George Bannna. Check out Banna's positions and you'll see why he is the conservative choice for the 41st ward.

  13. Merck's motto on his signs say
    "He's Back Man -vs- Machine"

  14. Isn't Brock Merck the Tea Party candidate?

  15. Don't worry, per the newspaper he will get 1000 votes out of sympathy.

The writer of this comment is referring to Merck, right?

  16. George Banna is the hard right choice. I have spelled it out multiple times. Why do you keep talking about Brock Merck. Again, Brock Merck is too progressive, he an environmentalist that even agrees with third parties. He even stated that he thinks global warming is real. That sh--won't fly in Chicago, maybe Montana, Texas, or Oregon but not here. The ward is way too conservative for a guy like him. George Banna is the ticket. Have you looked him up, or are you too set in your ways that it doesn't matter.

  17. Murphey is too young and inexperience to run for Alderman. He just graduated in 2002. Does Murphey have any other work experience? Too young ... too too young to run a Ward.
