If you haven't voted yet, and want information about the candidates, take a few minutes to look through the candidates' editorial board questionnaires posted on this blog.

Awesome way to close out the blog. Yes, take a look at the statements. One candidate says that the the City could focus on ownership of bullets and increasing penalties for firing a weapon in order to reduce violent crime. Hello, it's already a felony! The cases are dismissed by Anita Alvarez and crew...can you say organized crime prosecution hack from River Forest? Someone without working knowledge of the court system answers this way. When asked if the CHA is successful, he stated Yes. Hello, the CHA program has caused generation upon generation to become "takers not elevating themselves out of poverty." That candidate also want's casino's and further possibly privatize city services (another unsolvable puzzle). Overall, when the statements are analyzed the responses sound good, but are telling of his youth and one track developers mindset. His solutions are not worldly. Your blog, just like the Chicago Tribune missed the mark again.
ReplyDeleteFinally, the big day is here. I received three reports through the comments of thugs tearing up and taking down candidate yard signs. One particular person had a nice description and a license plate number. All three incidents were reported.
ReplyDeleteSeems as though one particular candidate is a perceived threat. I have some great back stories about candidate behaviors throught the race. I should really share them today, but will save them for another day.
Messing with yard signs is an old time Chicago tradition, most likely the "old timers" in the ward most threatened.

Years ago there was no cell phone photo technology. Anyone tearing down yard signs in this day and age is a fool.
ReplyDeleteName names. The people deserve to know.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, looks like a low turnout; I voted at 8 a.m. and it was me and 3 nuns in my polling place. Is that the trend in other precincts??
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I were the only ones in there at 9am.
ReplyDeleteI wish we had an on-line voting option
ReplyDelete40 - 45% Voter turn out? How can less than half of the population of the city make such a critical decision?
