A blog for people who live in the 41st Ward, Chicago, Illinois. The 41st Ward includes Oriole Park, Norwood Park, Edison Park, Wildwood, Edgebrook, Big Oaks and O'Hare communities.
1. Do you think a Chamber of Commerce gal like Mary will help the Resurrection Hospital nurses and AFSCME unionize? 2. Never heard Mary breath one word about being pro-labor before - this is a phony endorsement. 3. Why didn't the Chicago Federation of Labor endorse Mary? Because she has never supported unions or a living wage ordinance.
There isn't anything on Oconnors website that states she supports labor, workers rights or a living wage ordinance. Mary has been bought off by "special interests" trying to gain control of city power.
I've been a union member for many years and I think this endorsement is disengenuous. A few of the 41st ward candidates are union members and were not endorsed? A few others have come out and said they would support labor and a living wage and they were not endorsed either. But the chamber of commerce candidate, who has no labor ties was endorsed?
while oconnor is busy taking care of spcial interests, who will be taking care of the ward? gavin will be the same way. i'm going to vote for one of these independents who actually might take care of the ward
The SEIU Local 1 President is Tom Balanoff. Isn't he the same guy who was trying to orchestrate a deal with Blago to procure the Senate seat for Obama's friend and aide Valerie Jarret? SEIU is way to involved in shady backroom deals, and this is who is endorsing Mary O'Connor?

ReplyDeleteThe system ain't legit. The card house is falling apart. Don't worry, the Chicago Tribune who is also bankrupt will tell the "truth". Yeah right.

Dead on about the independents. Stay away from the machine.
ReplyDeleteEmanuel is just going to end up bossing around oconnor or gavin. Better to go with an independent who won't have to do what they're told
