41st Ward Aldermanic Candidates' Questionnaires for the Chicago Tribune and Sun Times Editorial Board Endorsements

Readers,

I have posted the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun times Editorial Boards' questionnaires completed by the 41st Ward candidates seeking their endorsements in earlier posts.

Chicago Tribune Editorial Board questionnaires were not found for Mary O'Connor, Dan Lapinski or George Banna.
And I did not find Chicago Sun Times Questionnaires for John Quinn, Dan Lapinski, or George Banna.

  1. For the candidates who chose not to respond to the Chicago Trib or Suntimes questionnaire and are not seeking endorsements from the editorial boards, why don't you ask them to answer the questions, anyway, and post them on the blog?

  2. Good idea!

Mary O'Connor, George Banna, Dan Lapinski and John Quinn: would you care to answer the questions from the Sun Times and/or Chicago Tribune questionnaires and have them posted for 41st Ward residents to read?

  3. No second chances. They chose to not participate because their handlers said so. We are not here to hold their hands.

  4. They didn't make their answers public before the other candidates took a side. They cannot be allowed to now pick and chose and get credibility for their answers. The must now suffer the fate of obscurity.

  5. The Tribune held 41st Ward interviews today, 01/24/2011. Six candidates were present.
They were(in alphabetical order): Gavin, Gonzales, Mullen, Murphey and O'Connor.
Not present: Ateca, Banna, Lapinski, Merck and Schamne.
Come on 41st Ward voters start narrowing the field to those who you know care enough to follow through. Then perform your own 'due diligence' on that narrower field. If done properly you will eliminate all of the candidates who have any 'special interest' group connections. Its time for new blood. The old line organizations' days are over. Don't, for a minute, believe just because somebody is labeled 'Independent' they are. Look behind the label and in some cases you'll find Democrat connections, physical help and even (God forbid)money. Same goes for the Republicans and their anointed one. If you do the above requisite investigating, attend candidate forums, ask pertinent questions of the candidates you'll truly be an informed voter. We need youth. We need someone who is articulate. We need someone with a day to day working grasp of the issues who can speak to our concerns here in the 41st Ward. Remember eleven will run but only one can win.

  8. So much for the Sun-Times knowing and understanding of the social-political dynamics here in the 41st Ward.

Their endorsement smacks of an all to typical disconnect between the average voter in the 41st and the insular environment/world of a liberal newsaper(the only kind left in America today)in a big city like Chicago. Seems they have a vested interest in seeing this Ward 'go democrat'. Its my guess the voters will turn out their candidate in favor of one who displays a clearly non-partisan approach to local ward governance.

Our future Alderman has to be the one who represents youth. One who, truly embodies their rationale behind their endorsement of the Democrat. Their pick know more has a "broad understanding of the city’s problems and how to address them" than the man in the moon. Where and when did their pick acquire "broad understanding"? Employment in a 'city position' over a number of years that would give her this 'broad understanding? I don't think so.

O'Connor is unqualified. And could no more bring adequate representation to the city council forand from the 41st.

This endorsemnt is a pure Democrat Party attempt at the manipulation of the voting public's perception of who the most qualified candidate is.(I hate ending a sentence with 'is'.)

We independent voters in the 41st Ward can do better than elect this person. Let's keep our uniqueness as the only Conservative ward in the city and vote for youth, an active day-to-day working experience in city government and one who can articulate the problems and workable solutions we need in the 41st ward. 11 run,1 wins.
