The Next 41st Ward Alderman
What qualities do you think the 41st Ward Alderman should have and why?
Full Time I believe if we will be paying the alderman a full time salary of $112,000/year that person needs to be fully committed to the job of alderman. All of the candidates who intend to work the office part time and continue overseeing their businesses(or current jobs) should not be in office - O'Connor, Gonzalez, Merck, Mullen, Schamne, Ateca, Lapinski, Quinn
School closings including after school programs, city Colleges etc, Parking ban in effect, which streets have a parking ban, towing will happen in parking ban areas, Power outage number, preparation for a power outage: flashlights, cell phones, turn off appliances etc.. Who to call for neighbor, family well being checks, plowing plan. reminder for residents who can shovel to try to clear walkways, Parks and libraries hours in case you have small children to keep warm etc, how to dress if you have to go out
Richard Gonzalez should be the next 41st Ward Alderman. Don't forget he will be fighting amongst other Alderman throughout the city when it comes down to it. I can't see anyone else putting up a good fight. At this point the way the city is heading we need a warrior not another yes sir person. He did say as always in his forums that he will give up his police and personal job and dedicate his Aldermanic position on a full time basis.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away a man's initiative and independence.
ReplyDeleteAbraham Lincoln
Good luck independent candidates
I think Richard Gonzalez should be our next alderman.
ReplyDeleteHe's tough and independent of both parties ( which will help with a new mayor)
He's has a proven record of public service as a Chicago police sergeant
He's business savvy and has executive experience
Patrick Murphy is also a very interesting candidate that I think will surprise many voters.

Good point. The job will demand a 24/7/365 commitment. A truly independent alderman is the only choice.
ReplyDeleteI agree. We need a full time fully committed alderman. Not somene balancing multiple jobs and responsibilities.
ReplyDeleteshovel ready
ReplyDeleteThe alderman's job should not be a hobby
ReplyDeleteshovel ready...that is funny. I won't assume the shovel is for snow.
ReplyDeletecan't be bought
ReplyDeleteCan email a blizzard emergency plan for the Ward to all ward residents
ReplyDeletethe next alderman needs put up a 41st Ward website. None now.
ReplyDeleteWhat exactly would you want to see in this "blizzard emergency plan?" What are we lacking now that isn't being communicated to the constituents?
ReplyDeleteSchool closings including after school programs, city Colleges etc, Parking ban in effect, which streets have a parking ban, towing will happen in parking ban areas, Power outage number, preparation for a power outage: flashlights, cell phones, turn off appliances etc.. ReplyDeletesafety reminders too, especially in regards to potential for roof collapse under the weight of heavy snow, shoveling precautions, checking neighbors.
ReplyDeleteI just looked, there is no 41st Ward website and/or any reference to 41st Ward on Facebook. We are outta touch.
