Cook County sheriff lists fugitives on website

Basic information on more than 44,000 fugitives — wanted for everything from murder to writing bad checks — will now be available to the public on the Cook County Sheriff’s website.
Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart said Friday he hopes the search engine leads more people to contact his office with details about suspects.
“Putting this information online empowers everyone to provide anonymous tips that will help us get violent people off the streets and make sure other wanted subjects are held responsible for their actions,” Dart said in a statement.
The database — at cookcountysheriff.com — allows visitors to the site to search by name or by the last known location of anyone with a Cook County warrant for their arrest.
Nearly 44,000 people with active warrants are currently listed, along with almost 1,000 parents wanted for failing to pay child support. And the sheriff’s office staff has been able to develop maps showing the last known address locations for about 26,000 of the fugitives listed, the statement said. The databases will be updated weekly.
Information about wanted subjects can be anonymously provided to investigators by calling (708) 865-4902 or e-mailing fugitive.warrants@cookcountyil.gov.

Most of these warrants are way old. I would bet most of these people went back to Poland or Mexico by now.
ReplyDeleteWhy not back to Ireland?
ReplyDeleteThis isn't right. People with old warrants need to be left alone. Stop destroying families. The crime is done, forgive and move on. There should be a statue of limitations on warrants. Make drugs legal, allow gays to adopt ultra orthadox jews and christians, and lets 12 year olds have abortions without parental consent. This will make America great... agreat mess.

26 who knows?
I was coming home from working 3pm to 11pm shift one night and my unborn baby and myself were hit by an illegal immigrant at Harlem and Foster. Guy had no license and was DUI. A couple of young guys held him after he left me injured and bleeding in a totally wrecked car. Somehow he bonded out, and was out of the country in 72 hours. We need stricter immigration laws for many reasons, and flight after committing serious crimes is just one of them.
ReplyDeleteGood to have this list - warrants less than a year old should be in red though - more likely to still be around
