Don't be surprised to see this headline soon: EMANEL & LUCIFER ANNOUNCE HELL INC. MOVING WORLD HEADQUARTERS TO CHICAGO....Dateline Chicago....At a hastily called news conferance late yesterday, Mayor Emanuel stood outside City Hall with Lucifer, better known as The Prince of Darkness, to announce Hell inc. would soon move its'Corporate headquaters from Hades to the Magnificent Mile.

Emanuel announced that Lucifer was drawn to Chicago by more than just a series of huge tax breaks, which he said would be offset by cuts in funding to soup kitchens and homeless shelters.

"Lu was initialy drawn to us when he heard how we closed the North av Beach on that scorching day a few weeks ago", Emanuel said. "He agreed with us that inferno heat has recieved a bad rap over the years." "But it was more than that", Lucifer chimed in. "What really caught my eye was when my longtime buddy, GE CEO Jeff Emmult announced with Rahm a few weeks ago that hundreds of GE lawyers and execs were locating to Chicago. That's when I realized something bad, I mean good, was underway."

Lucifer went on to praise Emanuel for securing next years NATO and WTO conferances right here in Chicago. "Talk about one stop shoping! All the worlds leaders will be right here, in one place. You can't beat that", Lucifer said. "And as most of you already know, I've had my top people stationed at the Unniversity of Chicagos' Economics department for many years. Milt
Friedman and I go way back. So that will make the transition from Hades that much easier."

Lucifer than heeped adoring praise on Mayor Emanuel. "It is no secret that one of my favorite pastimes is to watch people struggle to survive. So what does this little guy do? First he fires more union teachers, which is always popular where I come from, but kinda 'been there, done that.' Rahm took it up a notch when he announced a competition between garbage men, with the prize being that they can keep ther jobs! Is this guy a genius or what?" Lucifer proceeded to wrap his arm around Mayor Emanuels' head and give him a noogie.

The atmosphere at the press gathering was almost festive, despite the temps in the high 130s, and occasional birds dropping from the sky. "Nothing can stop us now", said the grinning Mayor.

  3. Again, let me remind you. Don't say anything bad about the alderman. Blame all our problems on Doherty, Gavin,Bush and Ronald Reagan. Don't forget about Mulroe, who voted for a tax hike to make Illinois the hightest taxed State in the country.

  4. I was the guy who predicted on this blog about two weeks ago that Rahm was going to whittle away at departments in the CFD and CPD - and guess what. This mornings headlines read "Ax 54 Fireman"..

The really disappointing aspect of the story is that these firefighters ripped off taxpayers by falsifying their mileage to the tune of $100,000. HOW STUPID! Didn't these guys know, during a budget crisis, when every job is under the microscope - you can't take chances.

  5. I saw that article - the deputy director of the fire prevention program makes $168,000/yr??? Are you kiddin me?

  6. I think the use of satire as a literary style (11:15am) is absolutely needed to vent current frustrations with the City of Chicago and its new round of management.

Everyone wants budget cuts made, etc..no one disputes that.

What is concerning is the lack of a real plan.

    1. Where is the forensic city budget audit? And why wasn't that done immediately?

    2. Why is Rahm covering for the bloated middle management layer of city goverment? Because they are old Daley political appointees who have to be let go by attrition? $168,000 salary for a middle manager? I want that job. Unfortunately, there are an estimated 1400 middle managers on the city payroll making > $100,000 - 180,000/year.

    3. Letting go of the low wage, "get it done" front line workers isn't a plan - it is a reaction.

    4. As for Rahm grandstanding with CEOs to announce a smathering of executive jobs for Chicago - who cares.

We need a real Mayor, with a real plan - not an illusion that something - anything is being done to address the budget fat...

  8. Chicagoans are bummed becasue there is notheing to be proud of here...flash mobs, casinos (more problems than what they're worth), no jobs, political hacks still running off with the taxpayers money.

Chicago needs something to be proud of - we need to make something, again.

  9. We already know what the alderman's stand is on anything fire related....her chief of staff's husband is president of the firefighter's union.

  10. Why is the alderman holding these forums? We already know what the responses were from the various departments. A waste if you ask me

  11. I have a few questions. I am assuming Emergency Management & Communications covers 311. I called on a normal day no storm or anything and was told there was a 15 minute wait. That is ridiculous, no wonder people call 911 for non emergency calls. We have limb in a tree that is ready to fall down I called and they took the report. A few days later I looked on the Dept of Forestry website and there you put in the address and no call was noted so I called the Dept of Forestry gave the info and asked how long no big hurry just wondering. I was told they have 180 days to resond. HUH REALLY What a joke.
I also have questions on how Com Ed figures out the budget billing. I always have a high balance at the end of my year and I have to beg them to come out to read my meter how can you figure out a budget billing on estimated readings. I guess I should attend this meeting. It should be interesting

  12. To 11:07 - Nobody asked. Go to the forum.
To 8:33 - Is the tree on your property or on a City right of way? If it's on your property it's your responsibly.

  14. I've made a few comments on post here, and shared my opinion, but they won't post it. I guess it has to be pro alderman and anti Doherty to get something on here. Typical Democrat properganda. On the top of the page it says share opinions?

  18. Why is the 16th District Police Station short on manning for midnight patrol cars? I demand this district be fully staffed. We pay a high rate of taxes and services should represent that. It is outrageous that services our community pays for goes elsewhere in this city.

  19. Please do not allow our aleady high property taxes in this ward go up any higher. I do not want another penny of my tax money going to the failed Chicago Public School system. Fix the schools first. I believed that the State Lottery money was helping support the schools, where is that money going to?
