These are a few pictures from Edison Park Fest. Large crowds, loads of children having lots of fun, good food, smokin bands and much more. The organizers did an awesome job. Great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Send a comment about your experience...

ReplyDeletewell attended, good crowds and something for everyone
ReplyDeleteNo pics of the large mobs of drunk teenagers in Olympia and Monument Parks or roaming the streets and alleys urinating on everyones property? or all the illegal parking that went unenforced? or the adult drunks passed out on park benches and bus stops?
ReplyDeleteAll the coppers were down at the lakefront dealing with A & W show and flashmob prevention. Unless the drunks were murdering someone or robbing a bank, cops weren't available.
ReplyDelete8:46am: does this sound familiar?
ReplyDelete"Party pooper, party pooper, thats why we invited you..."
I was there both days and didn't see any displays of public drunkeness.
ReplyDelete8:46am, you should of taken pictures!
The city has a serious police shortage. The 41st Ward, 16th district is the largest and most neglected in the city.

ReplyDeleteYou can't have your cake and eat it too! Edison Park Fest is a drinking fest plain and simple. This is what comes of it. It's nice for families during the day but lets face it - at night, people are there to drink. Most likely the drunk teenagers had even drunker parents down at the festival. Where is the responsibility? We definately need more police NO DOUBT. But with that, when are people in the 41st going to come to the conclusion that they need to be accountable for their children? Sure the police could round up the teenagers and bring them in but most of their parents are probablly out at the fest or working in other districts, since most of these kids are children of police families.
The 16th District had a very strong presence at Olympia Park. Safety letters were sent to all area high schools, in church bulletins, distributed through Kaage's Newsstand prior to the fest. Parents were well aware of the safety issue. Arrests were made (only teens, no incidences with the adults). The police did a great job! Plus part of the proceeds are going to a new playlot at Edison Park Fieldhouse. Thank you for posting these great pictures!
