Readers,
This sent in by a reader from edisonpark.com. This initiative is a joint effort of the Edison Park Community Council and the Edison Park Chamber of Commerce. Take a minute to read it over and sign the on-line petition.
FACTS
- The current playlot at Edison Park Fieldhouse, 6755 N. Northwest Highway, was constructed in 1984.
- It has a 64% safety rating according to Injury Free Chicago (Children's Memorial Hospital).
- The Edison Park Chamber of Commerce and the Edison Park Community Council are working together on this project.
- Current Chicago Park District code does not allow playlots to be named after a living person. John McDonough meets all the criteria except he has not been deceased for a year.
- John McDonough grew up in Edison Park and is the current Chicago Blackhawks President and CEO.
- Petitions will be at each ticket booth as well as vendor booths in the Business Expo to encourage the Chicago Park District to allow us to rename a "NEW" playlot after John McDonough.
Why hasn't Chicago Park DIstrict Upgraded this playlot? WHy should a petition be needed. This should be part of the CPD capital projects budget.
