  1. Interesting. Very controlled meeting. The chamber represents local businesses, wants locals to spend money at their businesses, but really doesn't want the locals at their meetings unannnounced, and God forbid, asking any questions.

  2. Does our Chamber pay dues to the U.S. Chamber? You know, the ones who ship our jobs to China...

  3. Lighten up 12;03 - Nadig Newspapers will be there. They will print an objective, unbiased report. Nadig will ask the tough questions.

What's that - Nadig is a member of the Chamber?

    Never mind.

  4. I would think residents as well as businesses would be interested in what the police commander has to say. These days though political figures and city administrators are afaid to speak publically. They demand controlled crowds and sensored questions.

  6. October 12 is when the mayor releases his budget to the public. Dollars allocated to public safety will be a critical component.

During this time of economic uncertainy and increased unemployment, public safety is of the utmost importance to many people. Desperate people do desperate things like turn to easy money and crime.

  7. So, when is the meeting with the aldermen who have wards in the 16th District and the Supt & Mayor? When does anyone go on record with citizens' concerns about public safety?

  8. all kidding aside, one of the main goals of the Occupy Chicago demonstrations is to create community coesion and conversations about public safety, violence prevention and public education.

We should try to do more of that in Norwood Park. Recently, education meetings have excluded parents and teachers, and now a meeting about public safety is being controlled and scripted to keep community members OUT of the conversation. More and more the average tax payer/community member is left out of the important community conversations.

That is oppression people, seen in third world countries - not in a country that pledges allegiance to a flag that is suppose to signify democracy.

  9. Did you see the news last night? Rahm hosted a corporate love-fest sponsered by Groupon - the coupon clippers. Two other Mayors took the stage with with Rahm. The Mayor of Atlanta reportedly drew the biggest applause when he declared that the days of pensions for Police/Law-Enforcement officers were over because, "there is no more money."

So in Georgia, Cops & Prison Guards are now expected to arrest and execute prisoners, guilty or not, and don't even think about a pension. Rahm applaulded gleefully.

Are you getting this Chicago Cops? Rahm has you right where he wants you.

The next report on the 10 p.m. news was former mayor King Dick expressing outrage for being called out for exploitng his dying wife's charity. Glossed over in the report was the fact that Dick was doing just that.

Fortunatly for King Dick, the U.S. Attorney is afraid of his own shadow.

  10. I read Rahm was "off his game" at the mayor's forum. Not himself, spouting his usual talking points, and boring everyone with talk of garbage.

  11. Maybe one of the "chamber members" can ask the Commander why there were so many home burglaries in Norwood Park?
