Clearing Up Misinformation and Rumors

Hi Everyone,

Today, someone sent a comment asking/eluding that former aldermanic candidate, Richard Gonzalez's cousin was hired by Mary O'Connor to be a member of her staff.  See the comment posted under "Analysis of the 41st Ward Aldermanic Race".

THIS IS NOT TRUE.

None of Richard Gonzalez's family (primary or extended family members) have been hired by Mary O'Connor (this information comes from Richard Gonzalez, directly).

A former campaign volunteer, Jason Hernandez, who worked on both Mary O'Connor's and Richard Gonzalez's campaigns has been hired as a staffer for Alderman Mary O'Connor office.  Jason Hernandez is NOT related to Richard Gonzalez.  Those of us who followed the 41st Ward aldermanic election closely, were able to meet Jason and see for ourselves how knowledgeable he is about city issues, the political climate and the ward itself.

I am happy to hear that Mary has hired a young staffer, former volunteer, who put long hours of hard work into two campaigns.  We need young people to be involved in municipal government.  Moreover, I am encouraged that Mary has hired someone who can represent two emerging demographic groups within the ward  1. youth, 2. diverse culture, ethnicity and/or race.  I look forward to hearing about positive changes like this.  Join me in welcoming Jason to the community and I wish him well in his new position.

  1. New people in the alderman's office is a welcome change. I'm tired of the "tude" I get from the office ladies at doherty's office

  2. i had the pleasure of meeting jason hernandez while he was campaigning for richard gonzalez. first off, congrats to mary o'connor for recognizing bright new talent when she saw it. fresh ideas and pragmatic optimism is exactly what our city is lacking. the handful of encounters i have had with him have left a lasting impression. the fact that he maintained a professional demeanor throughout, then was picked up by a competitor, nonetheless, speaks volumes in my book. i'm excited to see what this guy brings to the table.

  3. A new era, new leadership, new opportunities and new ward management... Can only get better. I look forward to tech upgrades. Where is the new office?

  4. How has the transition going? Has Doherty's office been cooperative?

  5. Sounds like Gavin supporters still holding a grudge trying to assert "pay to play" with hiring a staff member who has an hispanic last name. Give me a break

  6. Speaking of rumors - is it true Maurita Gavin landed a job as Spizatro's 36th ward alderman's office as an office manager?

  7. Yeah, where is the new office and website?

  8. I was just looking at the City of Chicago's transition plan priorities listed in a newer post. I am wondering if Aldeman Mary has created her own transition plan list for the Ward? And if so, will she be sharing it with us soon?

  9. Newly elected 36th ward alderman Nicholas Sposato reached out to Doherty's current staff in an attempt to find experience. Last I heard, he hired Maurita Gavin to serve as his office manager. A wise move, in my opinion.

  10. I'm happy for Maurita Gavin and that she landed a job, but to be honest, Doherty's office wasn't well run.

  11. Sposato should have hired a 36th ward resident. I'm sure there are plenty of unemployed office managers in his own ward.

  12. That Sposato hired Maurita Gavin (Brian Doherty's former office manager) - really, really surprises me. Doherty is/was/will always be a member of the Banks/Deleo gang - Sposato just put out the Banks/Deleo candidate for the 36th ward ...................

I would be very worried about information getting back to the 36th Ward Dems via Gavin. Gavin/Doherty have known Banks/DeLeo/Rice for decades.

Sposato made his first freshman mistake.

  14. Sposato must have been hard-up. Gavin has a mouth as big as the Mississippi. She'll report all the going-ons to Banks/DeLeo/Rice

  15. Gavin has a mouth as big as the Mississippi? Huh?

  16. Sposato made a great move. Win for 36 and a loss for 41. O'Connor and Mulroe are so far up Deleo's (D how ya doin) butt it is scarrrrry. Remember folks it was Deleo, Banks and O'Connor who bought your "independent" state Senator when you are paying your 66% increase in state income taxes. PASSED THE STATE SENATE BY ONE VOTE. P.S. 36 had their ward office picked out weeks ago. Thanks Maurita!!! P.S.S Can't wait for the remap. How will the Dems protect Katowski and Mulroe? Or was the deal for the bench made long ago? Help take down your friends and relatives and we will make you a Judge. Gotta love the Chicago way.

  17. The remap will cut out McAullife. He's gone. I'm a state worker and very thankful Mulroe voted for a tax increase. The Republican Govenor or yesteryear borrowed from my pension fund and never gave it back. At least Mulroe did the honorable thing and made first steps toward restoring the budget and the pension that I have been paying into for year.

  18. To 1:06 p.m: The increase didn't go to pay your pension. It didn't even go to pay past bills owed by the state. The deal was we will put a cap on how much the state can increase spending. Take more from the workers and give to the welfare state. Wake up! The way the dummycrats are running the state, your pension is going broke. To add insult to injury, they are going to tax whatever is left of your pension when you retire. Just watch.

  19. I've been to one of the remapping hearings and I have been surprised about the lack of testimony from anyone in this community & area in general.

Quinn and Mulroe are trying to fix a deficeit created by the Reps a decade ago when they borrowed pension money and never repaid the pension fund. I don't know where you are getting your info, but the tax hike and future tax money will indeed assist with the pension fund

  21. I hear Doherty will be collecting two goverment pensions - one from the city and one from the state - good for you Doherty, you got yours and if you would have been elected State Senator, you would have taken my pension

  22. I realize the term doesn't start until tomorrow, but has O'connor posted the address or phone number for her office yet?

    ReplyDelete
  23. she does'nt have a office. you could find out on the street fixing potholes.

  24. According to someone in Mary's office her address will be 6107 N. Northwest Highway. Which is by Northwest & Raven.
