Two West Side Men Charged in String of Armed Robberies
Robbery Pattern Cleared

CHICAGO - Alexander Vesey, 35, of the 3100 block of West Washington Blvd. and Marcus
Washington, 34, of the 5300 Block of West Van Buren were arrested and charged late Friday
night. Vesey was charged with (5) counts of Robbery / Armed with Firearm, (1) count Attempted
Robbery / with Firearm, and (1) count Aggravated Battery Great Bodily Harm, all felonies.
Washington was charged with (2) felony counts of Robbery / Armed with Firearm. The robberies
occurred in Area 5 where Vesey and Washington approached the victims in open garages or
alleys, and robbed them at gunpoint.

On September 8, 2011 at 10:55 a.m. Vesey and Washington approached two male victims in a
garage on the 4600 block of West Shubert, displayed a handgun, and robbed the victims of
money and cell phones. The victims were able to provide police with a physical description and
the license plate of the get-away vehicle. Vesey and Washington were arrested later that day
after alert officers located them and the vehicle.

Area 5 Detectives were called and their investigation revealed that the Vesey and Washington
matched the description of the subjects wanted in a string of armed robberies described in a
Community Alert issued on September 6, 2011. The offenders were positively identified in a lineup
by victims and witnesses and subsequently charged.

Both offenders are expected to appear in Central Bond Court today at 26th and California
