  1. Pay attention people. If someone is pointing a gun at you to rob you, you are authorized by the Supreme Court of America to run them over with your car at the hot point of conflict.

  2. We need more police patrolling on the Northwest side - NOT less. Criminals aren't stupid, they know we are unprotected sitting ducks here in the 41st.

  3. I haven't seen a squad car roll by my house in over a year

  4. To 5:15PM. That's because the Rahminator pulled the police from the 16th district and they're probably patrolling his house or maybe keeping an eye on Ed Burke.

  5. Hey alderman oconner how about more police in the 41st ward! Or are you just a machine politician lakey like mulroe???

  6. CPS can stink, I send my kids to private schools - but if my safety is at risk, my family is outta here. I'm not a city employee, I don't have to live here.

  7. Why doesn't one of these community organizations sponsor a "public safety" forum and invite the 16th District Commander, McNaughton and the new Police Chief, McCarthy. I hear McCarthy goes to community meetings all over the south and west sides.

Invite the Alderman too. Lets get these public safety issues out in the open and hear a solid plan from the CPD.

The Edgebrook community council, Edison Park Chamber, the Norwood Park Community COuncil, the Harlem - Foster Homeowners Assoc? One of these groups or one of the sensible churches up here must be able to host a community public safety forum?????

But, for God's sake - no one suggest going to a CAPS meeting. I've been to those and that is no forum for a frank community discussion on ANYTHING!

  8. I heard a rumor about McCarthy living in Edison Park. Maybe he will come to a meeting in his own back yard. I think a community meeting to discuss public safety is a good idea.

  9. The mayor says there are 750 more cops on the street. According to an investigative article written in the Reader this week, Mick Demke, discovered thru city payroll records, that there are 260 FEWER cops TODAY, than on this day last year. Don't listen to the lies and deception from the mayors office. Numbers by Rahm never seem to add up.

  10. We need a community forum about safety.

  11. I just read the Reader article written by Mick Demke, and I strongly suggest everyone grab a copy and take a look at it.

There are a couple hundred less cops on the payroll this year over last. We are being deceived. I have read that McCarthy advocates the idea that we need to act on lesser crimes in order to prevent greater crimes. How do you do that if you have no feet on the street.

What is the short, intermediate and long term plan for public safety here in the 41st Ward?

  12. I, too, read the Reader article," Mayor Emanuel’s budget show
It’s a familiar script: you pay more, the little guys get fired, and the mayor hoards the money"
but it was written by Ben Javorsky and the stats were gathered by Mick Dumke...

Its a good article and addresses the three main campaign promises Rahm made and didn't keep: 1. Increase cops on the street. 2. Won't raise taxes. 3. Reform TIF

  13. oh, please no CAPS meetings. A community forum on public safety would work. Maybe something like the storm forum?

  14. Guys, a community forum does not work with these actors. Rahm has the same poeple on the payroll as da ex-Mayor. The wheels are greased, the frix is in, it's in the bag. If you were ready for change, ya would have voted for change. You'll probably vote for Quigley, Silverstein, and D'Amico and be wondering why things keep getting worse? Don't worry, this blog will rip anyone that is a true outsider going against them one on one a new one.

  15. A forum is a good idea. Unfortunately, the next election is three years away. I don't want to wait that long to see more cops on the street.

  16. @9:14am - to clarify for you, as you must be new to the blog. I am a progressive/moderate independent, and have voted for both republicans and democrats in my lifetime, in addition to independents. I look for substance in politicians, not partisanship.

  17. I went to the forum at Oriole Park during the aldermanic election and I specifically remember Alderman O'Connor saying that she would work with community residents to organize marches, petitions, etc to make sure the 16th was adequately staffed. What happened to that promise? What has the Alderman done to advocate for more cops in the 16th. I have seen nor heard nothing about this since pre-election. A forum would be a way for us to hear what, specifically the alderman has done, and what we can do together to make this community safer.

I liked the storm forum. Lets have a public safety forum

  18. I heard the 16th is getting a new Commander - A Ms. Henny Penny. Rahm's gift to all the CPD officers who did not vote for him.

    ReplyDelete
  19. A public safety forum is a good idea, but lets have it hosted/sponsored by a legit community group, not the alderman or the CAPS office.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Henny Penny is being transferred up here because no other alderman wants her in their wards. Rahm knows O'Connor will go along with whatever she is told to do.
