State Representative Race Has Begun: A Comment Calling for Change.

The State Representative race has begun in the 20th  District which includes parts of the 41st Ward.  See a previous post to get a glimpse of incumbent Michael McAuliffe's challenger, Mohammad, "Mo" Khan,  http://41stwardcitizens.blogspot.com/2013/10/state-representative-mike-mcauliffe.html.

This comment came in today....

"Its time for a change, this guy hasn't been opposed in ten years? Thats why term limits would be great, complacency in office is the worst thing that can transpire. If he feels no threat to his job what is pushing him to keep it and do better for the community. New Blood is in order, Khan will defiantly get my ear and hopefully a fair chance. I agree that his chance will be better if Madigan does not support him, no one wants another puppet part of the machine. From what i have read and heard from Khan is, he is a Democrat with Independent Ideas, mostly focusing on education and job growth in the area. The particulars to these points centralize around more money going to community colleges for specialty courses in IT and other areas where young or old people can go get a crash course or certified education for a cost efficient price. So far I like what I hear coming from the Khan Camp and have heard that the number raised is more around 40k. I hope people can keep an open mind and are not bigoted towards someone with a middle eastern background, he was born and raised in Park Ridge and is as American as baseball. The District lines make me believe that it is set up for McAullife to thrive, and proves gerrymandering is still present in today's politics".

  1. Take time to read about the candidates. I would like to know more about Mo Khan, and welcome him or anyone from his camp to tell us more.... Here is Mr. Khan's website: http://votemokhan.com/

  2. Sounds like this will be an interesting race. Good to see someone willing to get involved and look to improve education and move us forward. Nothing wrong with shaking the tree sometimes.

  3. I've heard some promising comments about Mr. Khan. No negative history. McAuliffe's comfy relationship with Madigan and other dems lacking ethics is worrisome to me. Time to break up the power holds some of these long term pols have managed to acquire over time.

  4. The comment that is listed above by 41st ward blog is jacked up. To say "I hope their is no bigotry" is a straw mans argument. I don't like Khan because he worked for Hillary Clinton as well as Giannoulias. that's why he's bad news, nto because he is hiding from his name Mohammad by calling himself Mo. Get real, real mad that the Democratic party represents sellouts and traitors.

  5. What's jacked up is the current State Rep, McAuiliffe, an alleged Republican in a very cozy relationship with the northwest side democrats and Madigan. Anyone who is supported by Mike Madigan WILL NOT get my vote.

  6. My sense is Mr. Kahn is more lined up to represent the 20th District than the incumbent. Let's face it, McAuliffe made a huge mistake voting "no" to the gay marriage bill, even though most voters around here either could care less or wanted to see it pass. The old timers around here are more independent in their thinking these days, and want to see balanced fair legislation.

  7. Left is right, black is white, up is down, right is left, democrats are republicans and republicans are democrats. Forget all the party crap and vote of an individual who will get the job done!

  9. Look at his campaign money, his Treasurer who did all his committee paperwork is Joseph DiLorenzo of 600 W. Touhy #306 Park Ridge (Can you say Swimwear Anywhere and contributions to Braley for Iowa and Friends of Schumer) ****Campaign money.com is a mindblower.

$5,000.00 came from Washington Cardiovascular Institute of Takoma Park, MD
$1,000.00 came from Myron and Cherry Assoc
$1,000.00 came from Elizabeth Tisdahl the mayor of Evanston
$1,000.00 Maximum Home Health Care of Evergreen Park (Hello Obamacare)
Most of the other doners are ethnic, so to say he embraces diversity does not correlate to his small donors makeup.

For him to speak to the class at a Public High School as a candidate is totally offensive

That is why the Democratic party is evil, did parents sign a waiver that their child would be programmed by the Democratic party on the day that he campaigned at the school?

Stop taking campaign money and run grass roots, and then we'll respect your positions.

His money shows that he is not a small d operator. Very bad for us.

    1. Politicians should speak to voters of all ages. I don't see anything wrong with a political candidate speaking to high school students in the town he grew up in. More candidates should spend time with young people and encourage them to someday run for political office or volunteer to work on a campaign.

One more thing to the commenter above, the campaign just started, and as a brand new candidate running against a career politician, I'm sure Mr. Khan will grow a wider base of support as the campaign unfolds. To early for your kind of negative banter, let's hear what both candidates have to offer us.

    2. Re 1142: A political party is evil because a candidate appears at his old school? Interesting. I think what makes a party evil is evil deeds. For example, take the Republican party. They proudly refuse billions of dollars in Medicaid for poor people. They force poor people receiving food assistance to pay for aid to Hurricane Sandy victims. Now that's what I call evil, but that's just me.

Re 11:42; A political party is evil because a candidate appears at his old school? Interesting. Compared to a political party - the Republican party - which proudly refuses billions in Medicaid dollars for sick people in their states; And demands poor people receiving food aid pay for aid to Hurricane Sandy victims? You must eat frosted lead flakes for breakfast.

  10. Let's see how current State Rep McAuliffe votes on tomorrow's pension bill. If he represents the working middle class, he will vote, "NO". If he votes yes, I will never vote for him again.
