Readers,
I received this via email. Let's hear what you have to say.
Hello,
I read in the Tribune that included in the CTA's proposed "improvement" plan, they are going to eliminate the 90N and 56A bus lines. This would certainly not be an improvement for the Edison Park, Norwood Park, and Gladstone Park neighborhoods. Many people use the 90N and the 56A during the morning and evening rush hour. Elderly residents use the 90N to get to mass at St. Juliana and IC. They also use the 90N to go to Walgreens to pick up medication.
The 56A is packed during the morning rush; it is a very convenient alternative to get to the Blue line for people heading downtown.
I am not sure that 41st ward residents are aware of this proposed change. I hope that you will put this information on the blog to get the word out so that people can call the CTA Board of Directors and the Alderman's office.
Thanks,
Rahm here. At ease. Regarding cuts to CTA service in the 41st; I recieved several calls from my largest campaign contributors along the Gold Coast, who were upset that their domestic help have not been reporting early for their workshifts. These assorted Bellboys, Doormen, Maids, Dogwalkers, and silvertray polishers blamed their tardiness on crowded CTA buses. Therefore, I have ordered my good man - CTA CEO Forrest Claypool to pull every bus from your ward, the 41st, and place them on routes serving the Gold Coast.
ReplyDeleteYou people are forgeting your place. You pay taxes to me; I then funnel as many of those dollars as possible to my friends. Now get back to work.
Just like Maggie Daley Park - 55 million to build a park for rich people.
ReplyDeleteI saw Rahm and Daley on yesterday's newscast announcing the plan for the Daley Park. Not one reporter questioned them. Rahm knows that if you question the wisdom of anything connected to Daley's wife you will be pegged a hater.
DeleteThe Sun-Times reported 5 million dollars of park district funds would be spent on the latest lakefront park for rich people. That means the SE diamond at Norwood Park will continue to have a swamp in right field. And that the childrens playgound will remain antiquated (wood chips for a playing surface) for years to come. Unless Rahm found some loophole allowing him to spend 5 million tax dollars as he sees fit, Maggie Park will come to a vote in the city council. Our alderman damn well better vote no.
Let's look at what has happened to the ward under Rahm/O'Connor:
ReplyDelete* No Capital funds for Taft High School
* Retiring Cops not replaced, police ranks cut almost a third in the 16th District. Cops from the 16th routinely reassigned to the west/south sides leaving us understaffed.
* More cameras, fees and fines than EVER before.
* Property tax hike
* AND NOW CTA CUTS. Thanks Rahm and our do nothing alderman.
I take the 56a to work, back and forth. Will someone from the alderman's office be giving me a ride everyday?
ReplyDeleteHow about the pothole infested streets in my neighborhood??? I've lived in the neighborhood for nine years and the holes get bigger or more open up!!! I spoke with the chief of staff and she said the alderman drives down these streets herself!! Must not be anyone with some clout around me because these streets have been crap for NINE years!!! Ottawa/Norwood, Overhill/Talcott and Overhill/Hood. C'mon!!
ReplyDeleteThat's the problem, your neighborhood voted for O'Connor. Check the precinct results and you'll see O'Connor did well. Your neighborhood gets what it deserves.
DeletePlease call the CTA Board to protest the elimination of the 56A and the 90N bus routes. They meet on Tuesday to discuss the proposal. Let them know how this change would affect our neighborhood.
