  1. wow, big increases in crime numbers in the 16th. Must have something to do with a third less cops in the district than there were five years ago...

  2. The numbers are not adding up to the politician's rhetoric about police numbers being at a safe level. Look at the 100% - 400% increase in violent crimes in the 16th. Worse yet look at the increases in robberies, batteries, and thefts. Everything is worse since the district's manpower has been drastically cut.

  3. She will do NOTHING in an attempt to get back some of the officers that were lost over the last few years. She will play good soldier and keep quiet. I don't care if she is a "freshman" alderman. She will just say the same as every other boss in the police department. Overall crime is down...BULLSHIT! We have off-duty police being attacked and even worse, on-duty police being attacked at an alarming rate. I really don't care that they are shooting each other on the south and west sides. We pay a ridiculous amount of taxes to live in the 41st ward and deserve public safety personnel based on square miles. Why is it that the south and west side residents receive and overwork the 1st responder's and we get the excuse that our area is safe? BULLSHIT, it is not safe up here, it's just that we don't have people shooting each other everyday. The 16th district is one of the largest districts(by area) and has the least amount of officers. She won the election, how about going to bat for us?????

  4. There is no crime here. Just read the above Q and A with Ald. OConnor. She is such a joke. Did anyone else see the latin king grafitti on the building at the north east corner of Higgins and Natoma? It is mostly removed now but a faded version of it can be seen. Nope no gangs no crime here.

  6. There is a distinction between crime in the entire 16th District and the beats covering the 41st Ward. Alderman O'Connor's statement is factually accurate. Property crimes are up in some beats and down in others. The 16th District serves many wards.

  7. The 16th District is the largest district in the entire city. It includes the 41st ward, the 38th ward and the 45th ward. Unfortunately the criminal elements don't always know the ward boundries, so if crime is up in the 45th ward (two blocks from my house in the 41st ward) I get concerned, as ALL the alderman who have constituents in the 16th District should be. In the 41st ward we have had shootings, increases in burglaries, auto theft and gang presence. That is more than enough to spurn some sort of concern from the alderman who said she would advocate for more numbers of police in the 16th.

  8. The thing about comstat is too, don' trust it. Beat cops and detectives are getting pressured all the time to change crimes, and make them more insignificant. God forbid they provide any honest info.
